Michaela Richardson
Encaustic Artist

Michaela Richardson was born in Munich, Germany and now lives in the far south of Austria.
She is one of the few European artists to have mastered the ancient technique of encaustic wax painting. This sustainable method dates back to the Egyptians and was also used by the Romans and Greeks. It involves burning hot beeswax with pigments into a wooden surface. Richardson sometimes combines encaustic with contemporary digital photography. Her two- and three-dimensional artworks are created using all natural, sustainable materials and are characterized by their extraordinary depth and unique style.
Michaela has been painting since childhood, but initially chose a “bread-and-butter” profession - the neuropsychologist with a doctorate worked for a long time as a clinical psychologist and psycho-oncologist. Her work with cancer patients in particular prompted her to devote several years to her passion for wax painting and photography.
Michaela Richardson has exhibited nationally and internationally in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Austria.
